Martin Kelly joined the ranks of the Jiulong Baguazhang Association as a Study Group Leader at the close of the year 2000. Mr. Kelly has studied the Heaven Palm basics program with Shifu Painter for more than eight years.In addition to hosting the Jiulong Baguazhang Study Group Mr. Kelly is also a Shifu of other Chinese Gongfu systems who teaches at his studio, Self-Care Arts, located in Colorado Springs, CO. The Self- Care Arts studio offers ongoing continuing education workshops year round covering topics of Self-Care and self protection/self-defense. His classes include internal arts (the soft styles) of Taijiquan, Xingyiquan, Baguazhang, Qigong and Daoyin (Taoist yoga). He also instructs Wing Chun Gongfu and Aikido. 
Shifu Kelly has studied martial arts for over 30 years and has teaching credentials in several styles. Mr. Kelly earned a B.Sc. in Physical Education and Sports Studies and is a graduate of the Baltimore Holistic Health Center where
he studied advanced massage techniques and a variety of ancient healing systems. He has continued his studies of internal Gongfu and Qigong healing with Shifu Ken Cohen and, Jiulong Baguazhang and Baguazhang Qigong with
Shifu Painter.Self-Care Arts mission is to inspire individuals to take responsibility for their health and quality of life. By combining the ancient disciplines with scientific training methods, his students are able to learn to apply the principles to practical use immediately. Through the practice of Self-Care Arts, students enrich themselves with the understanding of biophysics, biomechanics, anatomy, kinesiology, and neuromuscular and psychological development the long term benefits are relaxation, self-esteem, confidence, and improved mental and physical harmony, health of mind and body. In addition to teaching adults, Self-Care Arts offers classes to youth through the Youth Martial Arts class, which blends striking, throwing, and grappling arts with character development focusing on honesty, humility, patience, and sincerity.
